The Solent Container Yard Extension at London Gateway Port was a significant civil engineering project aimed at expanding one of the UK’s most strategically important logistics hubs. This extension was critical to enhancing the port’s container handling capacity and improving overall operational efficiency.

The scope of the project included a comprehensive range of civil engineering works and involved extensive earthworks to prepare the site, the installation of advanced drainage systems and the construction of new infrastructure to support the expanded yard. Paving and surfacing were also key components, ensuring the area could accommodate increased container traffic and heavy machinery. All works were carried out with careful coordination to minimize disruption to ongoing port operations.

As part of our contribution to the project, we supplied a highly skilled and certified workforce. This included CSCS Labourers for general site support, CPCS Dumper Drivers and CPCS Roller Drivers for the safe and efficient operation of heavy plant, and CSCS NVQ Level 2 Groundworkers who carried out essential groundwork such as trenching and ducting. Additionally, we provided NVQ Level 2 Concrete Finishers to ensure high-quality concrete placement and finishing throughout the site.
